From coffee sleeves to torn sheets of white paper, Ahmed Al Emairi continues to explore simplicity as a creative strength. Following the strong reception of The Paper Cup Sleeves Series, his practice evolved into a new visual experiment titled ScapeSketch.
Inspired by Ben Heine’s pencilvsCamera concept, the series merges drawing and photography into a single frame. Architectural landmarks and monuments across Kuwait are photographed, while fragments of each structure are carefully sketched onto paper. When aligned precisely within the frame, the drawing integrates seamlessly with the real environment, blurring the line between illustration and reality.
The power of ScapeSketch lies in its restraint. Minimal materials, precise observation, and thoughtful positioning transform everyday surroundings into playful yet technically exact visual compositions. The simplicity of the gesture is what gives the work its originality and impact.
