A PILOT’S PASSION
Splendore Unique is always in search of new projects when it comes to the personalisation of luxury dials and watches.
In this case study, we share with you a journey of an ex-pilot who wanted to take his limited edition and make it even more sentimental.
Base Model watch: Breitling Airwolf Raven (2009 model)
Breitling watches have been closely linked to aeroplanes and pilots when it comes to brand association. The watches they manufacture have significant features that complement its use when tens of thousands of kilometres high in the sky.
The Breitling Airwolf Raven is a timepiece that was introduced in 2009. It has a steel case diameter of 43.5mm with a rubber bezel, super-quartz movement and two LCD screens that help with a second-time zone, alarm, countdown timer, and perpetual calendar.
The dial is brass coated in a black colour with oil-pressed fine vertical ridges, with luminescent hour maker batons and the 3 and 9 markers obviously displayed.
Price of base watch: £3000 (approx.)

What Splendore Unique does next is absolutely mind-blowing but first, let us slightly digress into the sentimental values of this watch its owner.
Our client mentioned that this was the first watch he had received while being a fighter pilot for Saudi Arabia.
He mentioned, “I’ve tried for several years to customize my watch but unfortunately the only way was through the dealer or manufacturer. And the only way they could agree is by placing a minimum order of 20 pieces in some models up to 30 pieces on other models”
Splendore Unique grants clients the opportunity to have a one of a kind piece with a premium quality level of craftsmanship.
Our clients request to convert his was extremely specific and required a very high level of intricacy. This was a pure carbon fibre project!
The dial was re-casted in genuine threaded carbon fibre with two sentimental logos positioned at the 3 and 9-hour markers (which you can compare to the original dial earlier in this case study).
The logo at the 3-hour marker represents the first logo ever created for the squadron. And the logo at the 9-hour marker represents the fighter jet that our client was a pilot of.
“I’ve tried for several years to customize my watch but unfortunately, the only way was through the dealer or manufacturer…”
The watch was independently commissioned by a client of ours however, this project has no affiliation with the Breitling brand.
This project was extremely challenging and required several months of Research and Development especially with the recasting of the bezel in Carbon Fibre.
A prototype of our work was shown to our client before we finalised the project.
The end result was delightful and I commend my entire team for their efforts during these challenging times.
I am happy to say that we managed to meet and exceed our client’s expectations.
The entire team is pleased with the final outcome of the project. We all wish for our client to wear his one-of-a-kind bespoke watch in good health.
